Job Title: Behaviour Mentor – Primary – SEMH Focus
Location: Eastbourne
Salary: £86 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

 

GSL Education are currently seeking a committed and proactive Behaviour Mentor to support pupils across primary settings in Eastbourne with a focus on SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health). This is an excellent opportunity for individuals experienced in supporting behaviour or those looking to specialise in this rewarding area of education.

About the Role:
The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to provide tailored behavioural and emotional support to children. The role may include 1:1 or small group work, implementing individual behaviour plans, and fostering positive relationships to help pupils re-engage with learning and thrive in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs, helping them manage their emotions and behaviour constructively.
  • Deliver structured behavioural interventions and pastoral support under the guidance of the school team.
  • Encourage pupil engagement, independence, and confidence through consistent, supportive relationships.
  • Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate records to inform future planning.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff and external agencies to ensure holistic support.
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with behavioural needs, SEMH, or in a similar mentoring role is highly desirable.
  • Relevant training in behaviour management or SEMH support is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm and patient under pressure.
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children and helping them succeed.
  • Adaptability, resilience, and a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
