Are you patient, nurturing, and skilled in supporting children with communication difficulties? GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and committed 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil with Speech and Language Delay in a supportive primary school in Eastbourne.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a Year 2 pupil with diagnosed speech and language delay.
  • Work alongside the class teacher and Speech and Language Therapists (SALT) to implement tailored support strategies.
  • Assist the pupil with daily tasks, helping to build their confidence in both learning and social settings.
  • Adapt classroom materials and instructions to suit the child’s communication needs.
  • Use play-based, visual, and structured learning techniques to improve language and interaction.
  • Monitor and document progress, contributing to reviews of the child’s development.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with speech and language needs or SEN.
  • A calm, patient, and encouraging approach to learning.
  • Strong communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families.
  • Knowledge of Makaton, PECs, or visual aids is desirable.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
