Mechanical Estimator

Location: Southampton

Salary: 65,000 - 70,000 + car/car allowance

From high-profile commercial developments to complex infrastructure schemes, this contractor is known for delivering exceptional work across a range of sectors. They are seeking a driven and enthusiastic Mechanical Estimator who thrives on winning tenders and enjoys engaging directly with clients.

As a Mechanical Estimator, you will be a key member of the pre-construction team, responsible for preparing competitive and accurate mechanical estimates. This role is ideal for someone who is commercially minded, passionate about securing new work, and confident in client-facing environments.

• Prepare detailed mechanical estimates across a variety of sectors and project types

• Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to identify risks and opportunities

• Collaborate with internal teams including design, procurement, and delivery to ensure robust bids

• Attend client meetings, site visits, and tender interviews to represent the business professionally

• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors

• Contribute to bid strategy and value engineering proposals

• Keep up to date with market trends, costs, and innovations in mechanical systems

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within a contractor or consultancy setting

• Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems in building services and infrastructure

• Enthusiastic, proactive, and commercially focused with a passion for winning work

• Excellent communication and presentation skills with a natural ability to engage clients

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite

• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
