Quokka Education is supporting an Outstanding day and residential special school for 97 boys aged 10–16 with a range of needs including ADHD, autism, and challenging behaviour. Their residential unit provides weekday evening placements for up to 20 pupils, offering a safe, secure and therapeutic environment.

We are seeking a compassionate and warm hearted Residential Child Care Worker to cover maternity leave, working three evenings a week, starting in October 2025 - term time only. This is a rewarding role where you’ll support pupils alongside an exceptional team of dedicated staff, helping to create a stimulating, caring environment.

The working pattern for this role is:

• Monday: 12:30pm – 9:00pm
• Tuesday: 2:00pm – 11:00pm, followed by a sleep-in, then Wednesday morning 7:00am – 9:00am
• Thursday: 2:00pm – 11:00pm, followed by a sleep-in, then Friday morning 7:00am – 9:00am

What you’ll be doing

• Acting as a positive role model for children in residence
• Building trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe and cared for
• Taking part in fun activities that engage both pupils and staff
• Responding with empathy, consistency and patience, even in the face of challenging behaviour
