Job description

Job Overview
As a Town Ranger, you will play an integral role in serving the local community to ensure people feel welcomed and enjoy a safe, clean and friendly environment. The Town Ranger role is essential in providing a visible, uniformed approach to the community dealing with minor issues, reporting any unusual activity and ensuring that they are available to assist the general public. This position requires a passion for people, strong social & communication skills and a commitment to the local environment.

Responsibilities

  • To develop relationships with local businesses and understand their needs.
  • Travelling on foot and providing a helpful presence in the town centre and surrounding areas ensuring that people feel safe whilst in the area.
  • Maintain the local area by litter picking and weeding areas when required.
  • Collect cardboard from local businesses for recycling.
  • Assist the general public with any first aid emergencies.
  • Helping parents/guardians with missing children or adults and liaising with a control centre.
  • Working with the local police.
  • Assisting with setting up any local events, overseeing them and assisting visitors with directions or questions.
  • Deterring anti-social behaviour and identify any potential incidents.

Skills

  • A positive, friendly attitude and customer engagement experience.
  • Develop existing and forming new relationships with the local community.
  • Physically fit and able to be able to patrol the town centre on foot.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a small team while also being self-motivated.
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with the public and providing advice.
  • Hold a full UK driving license which is essential.
  • Be prepared to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Hold an SIA license (although not essential as training can be provided if necessary).

working 40hrs+ per week Monday-Friday but with weekends also required, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the local community and a full uniform will be provided - All candidates will be fully vetted by the police authority.
