Year 5 Learning Support Assistant

Are you a patient, compassionate, and enthusiastic individual with a passion for supporting children with additional needs? A welcoming primary school in Chandler's Ford is looking for a Part-Time Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) during morning sessions.



About the Role:

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide consistent support for the child, helping them access learning and develop key social and emotional skills. Your support will be crucial in creating a calm, structured environment that enables the child to thrive.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support for a Year 5 child with ASD during morning lessons

  • Implement strategies from the child's Individual Support Plan and EHCP

  • Encourage social interaction and support emotional regulation

  • Adapt activities to suit the child's needs and learning style

  • Collaborate with staff and parents to monitor and support progress



We're Looking for Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children with ASD or additional needs (preferred but not essential)

  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and strong communication skills

  • Is calm, reliable, and committed to supporting the child's development

  • Can follow guidance while also using initiative when needed

  • Holds a relevant TA qualification (desirable)
