Role: Software EngineerLocation: Eastleigh, Hybrid working, 4 days remote, 1 day a week onsiteSalary: Up to £64,500 per annum + 10% bonus OverviewThis role offers an exciting opportunity to join a leading team in Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM) for rotorcraft platforms. For over 30 years, these systems have contributed to improved aircraft safety and optimised maintenance schedules. As the technology undergoes modernisation for new aviation platforms, the team is seeking a driven and experienced Lead Software Engineer to lead the development and integration of new software solutions in a highly regulated engineering environment.Role SummaryAs a Lead Software Developer within the IVHM team, you will be responsible for the design, development, integration, and testing of software deployed primarily on rotorcraft systems. The software processes sensor data acquired from drivetrain components to evaluate and report on vehicle health-supporting smarter maintenance and operational decisions.You will work with Linux-based platforms, using C++ to implement real-time signal processing, data acquisition, and visualisation systems, with a focus on vibration analysis.Key Responsibilities* Lead the full software lifecycle including specification, design, implementation, and verification of systems used for vibration monitoring.* Ensure software meets rigorous standards including DO-178C DAL D, and align with internal engineering processes.* Develop and maintain continuous integration and automated test pipelines to ensure software reliability.* Diagnose and resolve software issues to improve system robustness and performance.* Support and mentor junior engineers, fostering technical growth and best practices within the team.Skills* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.* Minimum of 4 years of experience in software development using C/C++.* Familiarity with Linux-based development environments.* Bonus experience with: Node.js, Python, SQLite.Nice to have * Background in rotorcraft Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS), including Powertrain Vibration Monitoring (PVM) and Rotor Track and Balance (RTB).* Familiarity with higher-level safety standards such as DO-178C DAL B.Benefits PackageThis role includes a competitive and flexible benefits plan with customisable options, including:* 10% Pension scheme* Life assurance* Group income protection* Private medical cover* Equivalent of 26 days holiday (option to buy/sell additional days)* Annual bonus scheme* Hybrid working - up to 4 remote days * Additional InformationSecurity Clearance:BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance is required and must be maintained.
