I have a FANTASTIC opportunity for a MOTIVATED and PASSIONATE individual to join a children's residential service in the area of Ebbw Vale as a Children's Support Worker supporting young people with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).


We are looking for an enthusiastic, resilient and committed individual who wants to make a difference in the lives of young people; to enable them to develop socially, emotionally and behaviourally in a setting where they feel safe and cared for.
No two days are ever the same as a children's support worker, so you need to be happy to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. It is challenging, but gratifying work!!

  • Salary: 35,100 (sleep allowance included)
  • Location: Ebbw Vale (NP23 postcode)
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Contract: Full Time
  • Shift pattern: 3-week rolling rota (x10 24-hour shifts per month)


**Due to the nature of the job and the activities involved, we are only able to consider applicants who have a full driver's licence**

Responsibilities of a Children's Residential Support Worker:

  • Encourage the young people to do activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age.
  • Keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes.
  • Be able to deal with challenging behaviours when needed.
  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
  • Provide support for the children and young people in the home and promote their independence and well-being.
  • Maintain a safe environment for young people.
  • Ensuring the safety of the students and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's; care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication.
  • Supporting taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals involved in the young people's lives such as Psychologists.


Requirements Children's Residential Support Worker:

  • Experience as a Children's Residential Support Worker, or with Young People is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience within another healthcare or social care setting is desirable but not essential.
  • You must be a car driver as you will be required to transport young people.
  • You must be over the age of 25.
  • You must be able to commute to Ebbw Vale.
