We are recruiting support workers for a single person supported living service based in Edgware. You will support a lady in her 30's who is on 2:1 support. This service is classed as complex due to the nature of her conditions, mild learning disability, Autistic Spectrum Condition, PTSD. As a result of these conditions, she can experience significant anxiety, which can lead to behaviours of distress, including physical aggression. Despite these difficulties, she is a lovely lady with a great sense of humour and fun.

Early shifts are either 07.00-14.30 or 07.15-14.45

Late shifts are either 14:15 to 21:45 or 14:30 to 22:00.

Waking Night shifts are either 21:45 to 07:15 or 22:00 to 07:30.

Proact SCIP training, which is a two-day course will be provided to successful applicants

The role is a temp to perm role so you will work 37.5hrs a week on a timesheet basis for 12 weeks and then on successful completion become a permanent member of staff with our client.

Due to the needs of the person supported, potential candidates would need to have the following traits and values:

  • Able to be resilient when dealing with challenging situations. The service user has conditions that result in her experiencing anxiety and emotional dysregulation. This can result in her displaying physically aggressive behaviours, alongside verbal aggression.
  • Calm and patient. It's important that candidates are able to manage their own emotional regulation, in the face of challenging situations.
  • Motivated, and with a good sense of humour. The service user requires lots of positive input to encourage engagement so it's really helpful for her to work with people with a good sense of fun
  • The ability to read understand and implement strategies that are being utilised, such as Positive Behaviour Support Plan and risk assessment.
