JOB OVERVIEW

We have an exciting new job opportunity for an Teaching Assistant /LSA / Learning Support Assistant / Education and Support Officer who is an excellent classroom practitioner with proven experience working with children or young people in educational or intervention-based settings.

Working as a Teaching Assistant /LSA / Learning Support Assistant / Education and Support Officer you can be called upon to teach children individually, in small groups or whole classes, including in the core academic subjects, providing targeted 1-2-1 support or covering the role of Form Teacher or TA across the school.

As a Teaching Assistant /LSA / Learning Support Assistant / Education and Support Officer you play a key role in ensuring the academic and pastoral development of all the children in the school, teaching core and additional subjects within the timetabling arrangements of the school as well as supporting children with their specific needs across the year groups.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Teaching Assistant /LSA / Learning Support Assistant / Education and Support Officer will include:

  • Support the school covering the role of Form Teacher / TA as required
  • When cover is not required, to provided targeted intervention lessons for children across the school who have been identified by staff as needing extra help, academically, socially or pastorally
  • Prepare appropriate lesson plans adapted to the needs of the existing knowledge of pupils
  • Research and provide appropriate teaching resources for the pupils where necessary, according to school policies and make these available to the school
  • Help where necessary to collate the class’s work for the school magazine
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining a stimulating learning environment for the children
  • Contribute to the school curriculum

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in education or intervention strategies
  • Proven experience working with children or young people in educational or intervention based settings
  • Experience implementing behaviour or learning interventions to support progress and attainment
  • Experience of supporting pupils of all abilities to make excellent progress
  • Experience working collaboratively with parents, carers, and external agencies
  • Excellent planning, communication and organisational skills
  • Understanding of child development and the barriers to learning (e.g., social, emotional, and behavioural challenges). - Knowledge of intervention strategies to support learning and behaviour improvement
  • Committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion
