Your new company Hays is partnering with a leading financial services company based in Edinburgh. This company is renowned for its focus on retirement planning and advisory platforms, offering a variety of services through their innovative platforms. They cater to different sizes of financial advisory firms, providing bespoke solutions to meet the evolving needs of advisory and investment management firms. Your new roleWe are seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Commercial Finance Manager (with the aim of growing into a Decision Support Manager) to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with a proven ability to operate beyond traditional accounting roles, adding significant value to the business through strategic decision-making and innovative thinking. Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Conduct comprehensive financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management.
  • Business Partnering: Collaborate with various departments to provide financial insights and support business initiatives. Act as a trusted advisor to senior management.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of long-term strategic plans. Identify opportunities for growth and efficiency improvements.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Monitor financial performance and provide actionable insights.
  • Performance Management: Develop and implement performance metrics to track business progress. Analyse variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess financial risks. Develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and systems. Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Leadership: Mentor and develop junior finance team members. Foster a culture of innovation and excellence within the finance department.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Must be fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, etc.)
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in a finance role, with a focus on strategic planning.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Proficiency in financial modelling and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Forward-thinking mindset with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
