PurposeWorking closely with advisers with complex advice cases and support the wider support team with technical queries, training and client queries and support. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and write advice reports covering a broad range of financial planning topics including pensions, offshore bonds, and specialist tax-efficient investments such as Business Relief, EIS and VCTs.
  • Technical research and analysis of clients existing products and investments, with findings to be presented in a detailed advice report.
  • Work collaboratively with the financial planners to create bespoke planning solutions for new and existing clients.
  • Discuss client objectives with financial planners, identifying where further necessary client information is required, to prepare robust advice reports.
  • Draft research documents to explain complex technical issues in a simple manner.
  • Assist in compiling financial planning and investment proposals, taking responsibility for any additional bespoke work being proposed such as cash-flow modelling.
  • Work alongside the support team to provide technical assistance relevant to any new business or servicing of existing clients.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of paraplanners and graduates.
  • Liaise with third party stakeholders such as accountants, lawyers, and service providers where relevant to provide/obtain information for mutual clients

Knowledge

  • Experience in a Paraplanning role or equivalent.
  • Experience of Defined Benefit Pension advice.
  • Understanding of the annual FCA ongoing suitability process and experience providing support.
  • Knowledge of Xplan (or similar practice management systems) would be beneficial.
  • Proficient in Selectapension, Cashflow Modelling (preferably Fincalc), FE Analytics.
  • Good working knowledge of all Microsoft office applications specifically Excel.

Qualifications

  • Must have attained minimum Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning (or equivalent) with desire to achieve Level 6 and Chartered status.
