Facade Engineer

As a Facade Engineer, you will need:

• Minimum 5 years hands-on experience with facades/curtain walling, stone cladding, glass and associated materials
• Good knowledge of building construction and faades
• Good knowledge of all faade systems e.g. stick, unitised, SSG, point fixed glazing, CCF etc, both old and new
• Conversant with all mainstream cladding materials
• Conversant with roofs and roofing materials
• Looking to pursue MSc in Faade Engineering
• Ability to deal with all professionals and persons within the building industry, including clients, Building Managers, architects & designers, contractors, manufacturers etc.

Core Experience to include:

• Faade design principles
• Good report and specification writing
• Generate and develop new business both within CBRE and externally
• Preparation of expert quality reports, including Technical Due Diligence reports for property acquisitions, sale or re-financing, PPM etc.
• Knowledge of core faade materials e.g. glass, metals, sealants, fixings, finishes, coatings etc.
• Understanding of installation of facades and curtain walls
• Strong commercial understanding of fees and budgets
• Faade testing methods including fire testing
• Inspections and condition surveys of old and new facades
• Ability to work at heights and in maintenance cradles
• Able to quickly and efficiently assess the condition and provide technical advice within a commercial context
• Willingness to travel to various locations, local, nationally and abroad, sometimes at short notice
• Conversant with British, European and other international standards
• Conversant with faade testing and test procedures
• Ability to assess facade defects, concerns or situations at short notice and prepare high level opinion and budgets for repair
• Prepared to give technical presentations in-house or for marketing purposes
