The Role:

As General Foreman, you will:

  • Lead and supervise a team of operatives on roads and highways construction projects.
  • Ensure all work is carried out to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Monitor progress against the project schedule and budget.
  • Manage materials and resources effectively.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Liaise with the Site Manager, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Resolve on-site issues and problems effectively.
  • Ensure that all work complies with the project specifications and drawings.
  • Promote a positive and productive working environment within your team.


What We're Looking For:

  • A proven track record as a General Foreman or similar role within the roads and highways sector.
  • Extensive experience in all aspects of road and highway construction, including earthworks, drainage, surfacing, and other related activities.
  • Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet.
  • Experience working in Edinburgh (or similar urban environment) is preferred.
