Connect Appointments are recruiting an experienced and driven Transport Manager to join our client's growing team in the Edinburgh area.

As Transport Manager, you'll play a vital role leading a busy transport department - managing a fleet of up to 50 vehicles, 35 drivers, and a team of 6 transport office staff. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing daily transport operations to ensure efficiency, safety, and compliance
  • Supporting, coaching, and developing drivers and office staff
  • Monitoring fleet compliance with DVSA, Transport Commissioner, FORS, ISO and company policies
  • Managing department budgets and controlling operational costs
  • Leading investigations and disciplinary actions when required
  • Analysing tachograph, telematics, and compliance data to improve performance
  • Coordinating with other departments for smooth operations
  • Managing induction and ongoing driver training programmes
  • Representing the company during audits and inspections

To be successful, you'll have:

  • A valid Transport Manager CPC qualification (essential)
  • Previous experience managing fleet and driver operations
  • Strong knowledge of transport legislation and DVSA standards
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • IT literacy and experience with transport systems and telematics
  • A full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Experience in the waste and recycling industry
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance and waste regulations
  • Familiarity with skip/RORO or refuse collection operations
  • Good knowledge of the Central Belt, including Edinburgh, Glasgow and surrounding areas
