Job Purpose:
The Quantity Surveyor will take full ownership of all commercial aspects of contracts, managing processes from tendering through to final payment. This role involves ensuring accurate cost tracking, contract compliance, and facilitating seamless financial management for ongoing projects.
Position supported by Assistant Estimator/Quantity Surveyor and administration personnel
Key Requirements:
- Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- In-depth understanding of various Conditions of Contract and Methods of Measurement.
- Flexible approach, able to collaborate effectively towards shared goals.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet creation, software tools, and meticulous record-keeping.
- Competence in using measuring equipment (e.g., measuring wheel) when required.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Tender Preparation - Assist with the preparation of tender documentation, calculating quantities from drawings and obtaining quotations as required. Ensure all tender information is received and prepared in time for submission.
- New Contract Set Up - Establish new contracts in Eque2 and Excel for accurate cost recording and billing. Create and maintain electronic contract files, ensuring they are well-organised. Review and sign sub-contract agreements.
- Site Measurement & Valuation:
Measure sites as directed for valuation and progress reporting purposes. Provide feedback to relevant parties on findings. Identify and document extra works as they arise.
- Valuations & Billing:
Assist in the preparation of valuation lists and compile monthly valuations. Work closely with the Contracts Manager and Supervisors to ensure all completed work, including variations, is appropriately billed. Review cost reports and ensure valuations are properly checked by the Contracts Manager.
- Payment Management:
Ensure that Payment Certificates are filed electronically, and the Income Sheet is updated with payment dates and amounts. Chase outstanding payments as needed, follow up on any shortfalls in certification, and adjust valuations in consultation with the Contracts Manager.
- Self-Billing Agreements:
Prepare and file Self Billing Agreements in line with project requirements.
- Subcontractor Setup:
Ensure subcontractor agreements are created and managed in accordance with project specifications.
- O&M Manuals:
Assist in preparing Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Manuals for final account purposes, ensuring compliance with contract stipulations.
- Quality Assurance & Accreditations:
Support the compilation of necessary information for ISO9000, CHAS, Constructionline, and Achilles accreditations as required, contributing to ongoing quality assurance efforts.
