Counselling Manager

We are seeking a Counselling Manager to lead our dedicated team, providing the highest quality therapeutic services to clients facing emotional and physiological challenges. This role is pivotal in driving a culture of high-quality, ethical, and financially sustainable counselling services. The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding clinical skills and role model best practice techniques.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead and manage a multi-skilled, multi-disciplinary counselling and recovery team to ensure professional and seamless service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain a safe, trusting, and inclusive culture within the team, employing effective and transparent communication.
  • Provide both clinical and non-clinical supervision, ensuring team members are supported and knowledgeable.
  • Champion continuous improvement by setting plans, reflecting on challenges, and sharing successful outcomes.
  • Manage performance, coordinate training, and commit to professional development for both self and team.
  • Maintain compliance with professional and legislative requirements, particularly in safeguarding and data protection.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Counselling or other relevant qualification (e.g., Art Therapy).
  • Registration with a Professional Standards Authority (PSA) or Health and Care Professions Council (HPC).
  • Significant post-qualifying practice hours and experience in clinical supervision.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team effectively.
  • Competence in Microsoft 365 and internet use.
  • Membership in the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme with necessary vetting checks.

Desirable:

  • Experience in Social Work, Health, Education, or Voluntary Sector.
  • Management experience within a counselling agency.
  • Specialist training or experience in Substance Use, Perinatal, or Children & Young People (CYP) services.
  • Specialist management qualifications or ACTO approved online counselling qualifications.
  • Recognised qualification in CYP Counselling or evidence of meeting BACP/COSCA CYP competencies.
