Yard Supervisor, East Lothian

About the Role
- Supervise yard staff to ensure compliance with all relevant standards and procedures.
- Ensure timely and correct preparation of deliveries, reporting any deviations to the Yard and Logistics Manager.
- Manage the yard team to ensure daily duties are carried out effectively, including quality checks, reporting NCRs, following safe working procedures, correct bundling and loading, and maintaining adequate resources and equipment.
- Monitor the execution of weekly delivery plans, ensuring all material is loaded on time and in full of no shortages.
- Provide weekly performance reports to the Yard and Logistics Manager, including On-Time-In-Full metrics.
- Assist the Yard & Logistics Manager with team training.
- Supervise and monitor check erection teams, ensuring relevant paperwork is signed off.
- Schedule regular stock checks, ensuring adequate stock of galvanized material (e.g., shims, swivels, anti-climbs) and provide stock check reports to the Yard and Logistics Manager.
- Supervise all activities related to the handling of incoming material to minimize handling and optimise flow through fabrication and welding processes.
- Propose and implement lean methods and innovations to improve yard operations.
- Collaborate with the Yard and Logistics Manager on the integration of StruMIS.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has knowledge of logistics, material handling, kitting and bundling, and Bills of Material management.
- Pays great attention to detail and accuracy.
- Is energetic, enthusiastic, and has a positive, can-do attitude.
- Can work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Preferably has experience in structural steelwork.
- Has knowledge of continuous improvement for enhanced efficiency and quality of service.
- Has been involved in process improvement, including KPIs and measures of success.
- Has computer/IT and spreadsheet skills.
