Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with an Ofsted-rated "Good" two-form entry primary school in Ellesmere Port as they require a motivated and enthusiastic teaching assistant to support the reception class for next academic year. This is a full-time, long-term temporary contract starting in September.Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school, you will be joining a diverse team of educational professionals. You will work alongside the class teacher to promote a stimulating, engaging and accessible learning environment for your new pupils by utilising an array of learning equipment and taking a pupil-centred approach to education. You will offer support across the whole class on a 1:1 and small group basis, offering interventions in short fall areas, implementing learn through play and completing observations to promote their social and emotional development, and completing phonics assessments. A number of pupils within the class do have SEN and will require 1:1 support to meet their EHCP requirements. Other duties will include:

  • Literacy and numeracy interventions
  • Guided reading and writing
  • Positive behaviour support
  • Opal play

What you'll need to succeedTo be considered for this exciting position, you must have recent referenceable classroom experience as well as:

  • Be willing to undergo a required DBS check
  • Have full "Right to Work" in the UK
  • Have experience working within EYFS/Reception classes
  • Experience supporting SEN is advantageous
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not required
