Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be supporting an Ofsted-rated "Good" two-form entry mainstream primary school in Ellesmere Port that is at the heart of its local community, as they require an experienced and enthusiastic Level 3 qualified teaching assistant for a long-term full-time temporary contract starting from September.Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this exciting new contract you will be supporting all KS1 classes, supporting and working alongside the class teachers to offer a stimulating, engaging and fun learning environment for all pupils by building strong constructive relationships with you new pupils and utilising an array of learning material/equipment. You will offer intervention and booster sessions in all core subjects on a 1:1 and small group basis, including intense sessions to lower/mixed ability pupils on a small group basis within a separate classroom. A number of pupils in Years 1 and 2 have fallen behind with phonics and are still working at a reception level. To support this, you will offer phonics sessions and assessments on a small group basis (mixed year 1 and 2 groups) on a timetabled basis. As an experienced teaching assistant, you will also assist with whole class cover and delivering PPA in the absence of the class teacher. Other duties will include:

  • General classroom and behaviour management
  • Giving accurate feedback on pupil progress and shortfalls, including recognising key milestones/achievements
  • Attending parents' evenings and liaising with parents/guardians
  • Positive behaviour support

What you'll need to succeedTo be considered for this exciting new contract you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, recent referenceable classroom experience, and:

  • Be willing to undergo a DBS check
  • Be able to commit to a full-time long-term contract (32.5 hours per week)
  • Have a Level 3 or equivalent Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification
  • Have experience delivering intervention and boosters in core subjects
  • Experience delivering PPA is preferred but not required
