Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a mainstream primary and nursery school in Ellesmere Port as they are looking to appoint an experienced and reliable teaching assistant to support a mixed reception and nursery class. This is a long-term position that will last until the end of the academic year. This school is ideally looking for someone that can commit to a full-time temporary contract, but applications are being considered on a part-time basis.Your new roleWithin your new role you will be joining an extremely welcoming and supportive team of like-minded professionals to support the reception class. You will work alongside the reception class teacher to offer a stimulating and engaging learning environment for your new pupils by taking a pupil-centred approach to learning and differentiating learning material. You will offer phonics sessions and assessments on a 1:1 and small group basis and implement a myriad of positive behaviour strategies including now & next, reward charts, and positive reinforcement. A number of pupils within the class have SEN and are showing signs of ALN so you will be required to closely monitor their behaviours and attainment outcomes, offering additional support as required and liaising with the class teacher on their progress.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, be willing to undergo/gain DBS screening if you do not have an up-to-date certificate, and have a minimum of 40 days referenceable teaching assistant experience within the last 2 years. Other desirables include:

  • Experience delivering phonics sessions and assessments
  • Experience implementing positive behaviour strategies
  • Experience supporting SEN is advantageous but not essential
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
