Overview

H9 Talent Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Materials Buyer to support a specialist electrical subcontractor within the construction sector. This is a 6-month contract (outside IR35), where you’ll be responsible for the procurement and timely delivery of materials across multiple projects, ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and compliance with project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and purchase electrical and construction-related materials in line with project requirements
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing
  • Negotiate terms, costs, and delivery schedules to optimise value for the business
  • Monitor stock levels and manage the timely delivery of materials to multiple project sites
  • Work closely with project teams to forecast demand and ensure materials align with project timelines
  • Manage purchase orders, invoices, and documentation in line with company procedures
  • Identify and mitigate risks relating to supply chain or procurement delays
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sustainability standards in all procurement activities

Experience & Skills Required

  • Proven experience as a Buyer or Materials Buyer
  • Strong knowledge of electrical materials and supply chains within construction
  • Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong IT skills with experience using procurement systems or ERP software
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Immediate availability preferred due to contract nature
