Overview
H9 Talent Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Materials Buyer to support a specialist electrical subcontractor within the construction sector. This is a 6-month contract (outside IR35), where you’ll be responsible for the procurement and timely delivery of materials across multiple projects, ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and compliance with project deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and purchase electrical and construction-related materials in line with project requirements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing
- Negotiate terms, costs, and delivery schedules to optimise value for the business
- Monitor stock levels and manage the timely delivery of materials to multiple project sites
- Work closely with project teams to forecast demand and ensure materials align with project timelines
- Manage purchase orders, invoices, and documentation in line with company procedures
- Identify and mitigate risks relating to supply chain or procurement delays
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sustainability standards in all procurement activities
Experience & Skills Required
- Proven experience as a Buyer or Materials Buyer
- Strong knowledge of electrical materials and supply chains within construction
- Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong IT skills with experience using procurement systems or ERP software
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Immediate availability preferred due to contract nature
