Learning Support Assistant - SEN/SEMH Provision

About the Role

Simply Education is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our SEN/SEMH provision in Ellesmere Port. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. As an LSA, you will work closely with our experienced teaching staff to support children with a range of additional needs, ensuring they have the opportunity to thrive in a nurturing, inclusive environment.



Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN and SEMH needs.

  • Assist with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and tailored learning strategies.

  • Help students develop social and emotional skills, promoting positive behaviour and self-regulation.

  • Work alongside teachers to create and adapt learning resources to meet the specific needs of the children.

  • Support children during break times and ensure their well-being in a safe environment.

  • Use behaviour management strategies to help students cope with challenges and reduce disruptive behaviour.

  • Liaise with parents, teachers, and external professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for the students.



About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about working with children and has a genuine interest in supporting those with SEN/SEMH needs.

  • Patient, empathetic, and able to remain calm under pressure.

  • Flexible and willing to adapt to the needs of individual students and the school environment.

  • Experienced in working with children with SEN/SEMH or have relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or support work (such as CACHE Level 2 or 3 or similar).

  • Able to use initiative to support children both inside and outside the classroom.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

  • A clear enhanced DBS check and the ability to provide references.
