About the Role:Enfield Council is seeking an experienced Council Tax Officer to join its Revenues Collection Service team on a temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a high-performing, customer-focused service that supports the effective collection of council tax across the borough.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately process and manage customer council tax accounts

  • Handle all aspects of council tax including:

    • Account set-up, maintenance, and review

    • Assessment of discounts, disregards, and exemptions

    • Payment arrangements

    • Pre- and post-court processes

    • Liaison with enforcement agents (bailiffs)

  • Provide excellent customer service, including effective engagement with vulnerable or challenging customers

  • Work in line with statutory regulations and corporate policies

  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in council tax administration or local authority revenues services

  • Strong knowledge of council tax legislation and collection processes

  • Ability to manage a busy caseload and meet deadlines

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Competent in using relevant systems and software

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
