A unique opportunity has arisen for a passionate and accomplished mathematics educator to step into a leadership position and make a meaningful impact. We are seeking a Lead Practitioner of Mathematics to join a thriving and forward-thinking secondary academy in Enfield from September 2025. This role offers the chance to shape and elevate the quality of mathematics education across the department while mentoring others and continuing your own professional growth.

 

Key Responsibilities as Lead Practitioner of Mathematics:

  • Curriculum Leadership: Design, implement, and refine a robust mathematics curriculum that promotes mastery, deep thinking, and real-world application.

  • Instructional Excellence: Deliver exceptional mathematics lessons that set the standard for teaching practice across the academy.

  • Coaching and Mentoring: Support colleagues in refining their mathematics teaching methods through coaching, model lessons, and feedback.

  • Data-Driven Impact: Analyse assessment data to inform planning, interventions, and curriculum decisions, enhancing student outcomes in mathematics.

  • Innovation and Research: Lead on initiatives that incorporate the latest research and developments in mathematics pedagogy and curriculum design.

  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with senior leaders and fellow practitioners to ensure consistent, high-quality teaching and learning in mathematics.

  • Raising Standards: Champion a culture of excellence, ambition, and continuous improvement across the mathematics department and wider school community.

 

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a proven track record of excellence in teaching mathematics.

  • Substantial experience in a secondary school mathematics classroom, ideally in a leadership or mentoring role.

  • A passion for mathematics and a deep commitment to helping every student succeed.

  • Outstanding communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

  • The drive to innovate and lead change across the mathematics department.

  • A deep understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

  • An enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
