Contracts Manager

Location: Enfield, London

Working Hours: 10 per day (Mon - Fri) Start Time 7am

Pay Rate: £400 - £500 per day

As a Contracts Manager within Vinci Construction, you will play a key role in managing the contractual and commercial aspects of civil engineering projects. You will oversee project delivery, ensure compliance with contractual obligations, and manage relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. This role is vital to ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the contracts for multiple civil engineering projects, ensuring that all aspects of the contract are adhered to.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions, with a focus on risk management and dispute resolution.
  • Monitor and manage change control processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of variations to clients and the wider project team.
  • Oversee the preparation and management of project budgets and financial forecasting.
  • Monitor project expenditure and costs, ensuring projects are completed within budget.
  • Work closely with the Quantity Surveying team to ensure timely invoicing and payment processing.
  • Assist in the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure that all subcontractor agreements are in place and manage the performance of subcontractors in line with contract terms.
  • Monitor subcontractor work and manage performance to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Identify and manage risks to the project, ensuring mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Proactively handle any disputes or claims that may arise during the course of the project.
  • Work with the legal and commercial teams to ensure proper risk allocation and contractual protection.
  • Lead and mentor the project team, including contract administrators and junior staff.
  • Work collaboratively with the project manager, design teams, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and external stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress.
  • Produce regular reports for senior management on contract performance, risks, and financial status.
  • Ensure that all contract documentation is up-to-date and properly maintained.
  • Coordinate and oversee the preparation and submission of progress reports and claims.
  • Ensure all activities comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and health & safety standards.
  • Monitor site activities to ensure that the quality of work meets the required standards and specifications

Key Skills & Qualifications:

Significant experience (typically 5+ years) in a contracts management role within the civil engineering or construction industry.

Demonstrated experience managing contracts on large, complex civil engineering projects.

Experience in managing risk, change control, and commercial aspects of contracts.

Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.

Chartered status (RICS, CIOB, or similar) is preferred but not essential.

Strong knowledge of civil engineering contracts (NEC3/NEC4, JCT, etc.) and industry standards.

Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Proven track record in managing subcontractors, suppliers, and clients effectively.

Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting and cost control.

Ability to lead teams and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore, Aconex, or similar).
