Job Title: Document Controller
Location: Enfield, North London
Salary: 30,000 - 40,000 (DOE)
Job Summary
We are recruiting for a meticulous and proactive Document Controller to join a leading subcontractor specialising in structural steel and metalwork, based in Enfield. This is a key role within the business, supporting the team by ensuring efficient, compliant, and accurate management of project documentation across all stages of delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Document Control & Compliance
Manage, control, and track all project documentation including drawings, specifications, RFIs, contracts, and reports.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date document registers, ensuring version control and document integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
Enforce document control procedures and ensure all documentation is submitted, reviewed, and approved in accordance with internal protocols and client requirements.
Distribute documents to relevant departments - including production, engineering, site teams, and senior management - to ensure accurate and timely execution of work.
Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure efficient document exchange and communication.
Coordinate the preparation of handover packs, as-built documentation, and required transmittals.
Key Requirements
Proven experience in a Document Controller role within the construction, engineering, or structural steel sector.
Strong understanding of document control standards and procedures, including ISO 9001 and QMS requirements.
Proficient in using document control systems such as Aconex, Viewpoint, or similar platforms.
High-level IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail and a methodical approach to managing information.
Experience
Minimum 3 years' experience in a document control role within a construction-related environment.
Experience working on structural steel or architectural metalwork projects is highly advantageous.
