Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching & Learning

    • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons in Business and Economics.

    • Differentiate teaching to support a range of abilities and learning styles.

    • Prepare students for public examinations (GCSE, A-level, BTEC).

  • Curriculum & Assessment

    • Contribute to the development of the Business and Economics curriculum.

    • Mark and assess work according to exam board criteria.

    • Track and report on student progress.

  • Classroom Management

    • Maintain high standards of behaviour and a positive learning environment.

    • Use effective strategies to motivate students.

  • Pastoral Responsibilities

    • Act as a form tutor, supporting students’ personal development and well-being.

    • Provide guidance on careers in business, economics, and higher education pathways.

  • Professional Development

    • Keep up to date with changes in the subject area and exam specifications.

    • Participate in departmental meetings, training, and whole-school initiatives.

Skills & Qualities
  • Strong subject knowledge in Business and Economics.

  • Ability to explain complex ideas clearly and accessibly.

  • Classroom management and organisation.

  • Enthusiasm for inspiring interest in business, finance, and economic issues.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.

Qualifications
  • A degree in Business, Economics, or a related field.

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), usually gained via:

    • PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)

    • School Direct / SCITT

    • Teach First

  • For sixth form teaching, subject-specialist expertise is especially valued.
