Lead Maintenance Engineer London (North London / Hertfordshire border)

Salary: 65,000 + Overtime
Shifts: 12-Hour Days & Nights (Continental Shift Pattern)

We are partnering with a world-class manufacturing company renowned for quality, investment, and exceptional workforce development. Due to continuous growth, they are seeking a Lead Maintenance Engineer/ Engineering Team Leader to take a key role within their engineering team at a fully automated production facility.

Role Overview

The Lead Maintenance Engineer/ Engineering Team Leader will be responsible for ensuring the ongoing reliability of automated manufacturing equipment while providing technical guidance and leadership to the wider maintenance team.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead and support the maintenance team during breakdowns and planned tasks
  • Prioritise and allocate engineering work across the shift
  • Conduct reactive and planned maintenance on automated machinery and services
  • Fault finding & diagnosis on electrical and/or mechanical systems (depending on bias)
  • Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain high engineering standards and ensure compliance with safety procedures
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve OEE

Skills & Experience Required

  • Time-served Maintenance Engineer with strong manufacturing background
  • Engineering qualification - NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent
  • Strong fault-finding skills - either mechanical or electrical bias considered
  • Experience with automated production equipment
  • Leadership experience needed (Engineering Team Leader / Senior Maintenance Engineer / Shift Lead)
  • Ability to coach and support junior engineers
  • Confident communicator with strong problem-solving ability
