Quantity Surveyor 

Location: Enfield, London

Working Hours: 10 per day (Mon - Fri) Start Time 7am

Pay Rate: £350 per day

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our team within the civil engineering sector. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in managing the financial and contractual aspects of civil engineering projects, including roads, drainage, infrastructure, and large-scale construction works.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for civil engineering projects based on drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, monitoring costs and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Provide input on cost planning and value engineering to ensure the efficient allocation of resources.
  • Prepare tender documents and assist with the selection of contractors and suppliers.
  • Review bids and proposals, provide recommendations, and support contract negotiations.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company procedures and client requirements.
  • Administer contracts, including terms and conditions, payment schedules, and change orders.
  • Evaluate and manage claims, variations, and extensions of time.
  • Review and assess contractual disputes and offer advice on resolving them.
  • Monitor project costs against budget and provide regular cost reports to the project management team.
  • Track variations and provide cost forecasts and cash flow projections.
  • Review and approve contractor and subcontractor payment applications.
  • Identify potential risks and provide strategies to mitigate financial and contractual issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Work closely with the project team, including engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in project meetings, providing financial insights and solutions to project challenges.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Prepare and agree on final accounts with clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and within deadlines.
  • Liaise with the client and the project team to resolve any outstanding issues before final completion.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree or Equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.

  • Professional Membership: MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) preferred, but not mandatory.

  • Proven experience (typically 3+ years) as a Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering or construction sector.

  • In-depth knowledge of civil engineering contracts (e.g., NEC, JCT, FIDIC) and industry best practices.

  • Experience in estimating and managing costs on civil engineering projects such as roads, drainage, utilities, or infrastructure works.

  • Strong proficiency in using Quantity Surveying software and MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.).

  • Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modelling) is an advantage.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
