  Key Responsibilities of a History Teacher:
  • Curriculum Development: Create and deliver a rich and engaging history curriculum that encompasses key historical events, periods, and themes, fostering analytical thinking and a strong sense of context.

  • Effective Classroom Instruction: Use innovative teaching strategies, digital tools, and real-world resources to make historical concepts accessible and thought-provoking for all learners.

  • Student Assessment: Evaluate student progress through diverse assessment techniques, such as debates, essays, projects, and formal tests, offering feedback to support continued academic achievement.

  • Mentorship and Guidance: Inspire a love for history, guiding students to understand its relevance in today’s society and helping them to develop key critical thinking skills.

  • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and organised learning space where mutual respect and intellectual curiosity are encouraged.

  • Professional Development: Stay informed about developments in history education, incorporating current topics and historical discourse into the classroom, while engaging in ongoing training and upskilling.

  The Ideal History Teacher Will Have:
  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – PGCE, GTP, BEd, Cert Ed, or equivalent.

  • Experience teaching History at secondary level (KS3/KS4, with KS5 desirable).

  • A strong command of the national curriculum and up-to-date pedagogical practices.

  • Ability to build strong student rapport and inspire a passion for history.

  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).

  • The right to work in the UK and two professional references.
