Engineer to work with a Tier 2 main contractor. The site engineer will work across a 50M traditional build retirement village project in Surrey that has just broken ground this month.

As a Site Engineer, you will directly report to the Senior Engineer and Project Manager on site, and work collaboratively with them to drive standards and ensure the project is finished on time and within budget. Initial requirements will be across civils, groundworks, and drainage, and other tasks will be assigned as the project progresses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting out for all civil and groundwork elements including foundations, drainage runs, roads, retaining structures, and external works.
  • Verifying and checking setting out and completed work by groundworks and drainage subcontractors to ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Coordinating and overseeing the delivery of substructure and civil engineering packages through to completion of hard landscaping and infrastructure tie-ins.
  • Maintaining accurate daily records including levels, progress tracking, and variations for each subcontractor.
  • Carrying out quality assurance inspections, producing relevant QA documentation, and supporting handover processes.
  • Participating in weekly site meetings and collaborating with site management, commercial teams, and health & safety personnel.
  • Confident use of surveying instruments including Total Stations, EDMs, and laser levels for setting out, as-built surveys, and snagging.
  • Using tablets and digital software (e.g., Procore) to record QA checks, track progress, and log site information efficiently.
  • Proficient in IT and construction software, including Microsoft Office and digital communication tools.
  • Strong understanding of civil drawings, drainage schematics, construction details, and technical specifications.
  • Active involvement in resolving on-site issues, communicating technical queries, and ensuring works are delivered to programme.
  • Potential to support with superstructure elements such as facades and roofing for those seeking broader project experience.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum 3 years experience working as Site Engineer
  • Engineering Degree/Diploma or related degree
  • Confident using Microsoft Office programs
  • Working knowledge of equipment and systems e.g. AutoCAD
