Our client has been building their strong reputation within mechanical and electrical installations nationally for over 40 years with a healthy turn-over exceeding 75m. Operating across three divisions they deliver a full range of services from concept and design through to construction, maintenance and security across a range of projects which include retail, storage, industrial, commercial office, healthcare, education and residential.

As part of their continued success in winning new work, already securing target turnover into 2025, they now need to add a Mechanical Estimator to join an established team developing tender enquiries to help create commercially competitive tenders.

Typical Mechanical Estimator Responsibilities

  • Produce and submit concise package enquiries to the market to enable timely quotations for bid deadlines
  • Organise andcomplete the required site surveys and prepare detailed Mechanical estimates, tenders and quotations to ensure that opportunities are being accurately estimated competitively, successfully and profitably
  • Undertake design checks and validate design information
  • Use the software, Trimble, to ensure precise tender pricing schedules
  • Closely support the bid team by attending all necessary internal and external meetings during the bid and post tender submittal
  • At preferred bidder stage support the lead negotiator with all necessary tender/bid information and develop a detailed knowledge of any issues involved
  • Using relevant industry experience, you will be expected to help develop and refine the estimation process to improve efficiency, clarity, and accuracy while reducing overall costs

You will need to have a strong technical/engineering background with excellent knowledge of construction mechanical services design and cost elements. We are also looking for a demonstratable track record of reviewing technical drawings for variations, valuations and take-offs. Additional skills required include strong analytical, communication and team collaboration along with, a good attitude to work, a high level of professionalism and a proficiency in MS Office, specifically MS Excel. Regrettably we can only accept applications from candidates with a strong background specifically in M&E as opposed to just general construction experience.
