Our client is a well-established family company who have been providing a complete grounds management service in the Surrey area for over 30 years.

Due to expansion, our client is currently looking for a Deputy Grounds Manager with solid ‘hands-on’ experience.

The Deputy Grounds Manager will support the Grounds Manager to supervise and work with a dedicated and professional grounds team at a leading independent co-educational boarding and day college for boys and girls between the ages of 11 – 18 in Epsom. Set in 80 acres on the edge of the Epsom Downs, the College enjoys an enviable reputation for producing highly successful individual and team performances in a wide range of sports.

The range of work covers grounds, gardens and sports pitches.

Ideally, you will have NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience.

Essential requirements:

  • PA1, 2 & 6
  • A passion for producing top-quality sports surfaces
  • Knowledge of cricket preparation
  • Able to operate ride-on mowers and tractors
  • Some mechanical knowledge
  • Able to identify pests and diseases
  • Knowledge of sports markings
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Reliable, enthusiastic with a positive attitude
  • Enjoy working to high standards
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with colleagues and sports staff
  • Hands-on knowledge of the workings of a Grounds Department

In return our client is offering a salary of £28,000 - £32,000 per annum.

All positions are subject to a 3-month probation period, and this role requires an Enhanced DBS check. Candidates should also hold a full, current driving licence and be flexible. Overtime will occasionally be required (including some Saturdays).
