Local Lead – Maths Education

Salary: £52,530–£57,680 per annum (DOE)
Contract: Permanent
Location: Home-based

Region: Wolverhampton and surrounding areas

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced maths education professional to take on a strategic leadership role supporting schools and colleges to raise attainment and progression in mathematics.

As a Local Lead, you’ll work within a defined region to strengthen collaboration between schools, colleges, and Maths Hubs, with a focus on improving GCSE outcomes and increasing participation in Level 3 maths — particularly for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead regional initiatives to raise attainment and progression in maths from KS2 to Level 3.
  • Support target schools to enhance teaching, curriculum, and aspiration in mathematics.
  • Work with maths departments to embed high-quality professional development and curriculum support.
  • Collaborate with post-16 leads, universities, and employers to inspire student progression to higher-level maths and STEM pathways.
  • Advise and support schools and colleges in offering and delivering Level 3 qualifications, including Core Maths and A level Maths.

About You:
You’ll be a qualified maths teacher with experience teaching across the 11–19 age range, including GCSE and A level. You’ll bring proven expertise in maths education leadership, a passion for improving outcomes for young people, and excellent communication and collaboration skills.

This is a home-based role with occasional travel required within your region.
