This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is ready to take full ownership of financial controls, reporting, and team development in a business scaling at pace.

Ideally, we are looking for a BIG4 qualified ACA who has a strong controllership and technical grounding!

The Opportunity

In this senior leadershp role, you’ll partner closely with the Finance Director to oversee all aspects of financial operations - from reporting and compliance to transactional finance and system development. You’ll also play a critical role in ensuring the finance function evolves to match the needs of a growing and increasingly complex business.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading the financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate internal and external reporting.
  • Statutory accounts and audit queries.
  • Managing audit, tax, and regulatory requirements, ensuring ongoing compliance.
  • Overseeing day-to-day transactional finance, including payments, receivables, payroll, and banking activities.
  • Reviewing and improving internal controls and financial processes for scalability.
  • Supporting and developing a small but capable finance team.
  • Contributing to system improvements and helping shape the use of finance technology across the business (experience with NetSuite is a bonus).
  • Working closely with FP&A to support planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
  • Monitoring working capital, overseeing cash flow, and supporting finance-related projects across departments.
  • Deputising for the Finance Director when needed.

What We’re Looking For

We're seeking someone who’s technically strong but also comfortable in a fast-moving, commercial setting.

You'll be someone who enjoys streamlining processes, leading teams, and working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.

You’ll likely bring:

  • Full qualification as a chartered accountant (ACA preferred), ideally trained in a top-tier or Big 4 firm.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a senior finance leadership role, ideally within a growing or change-heavy environment.
  • Strong team leadership credentials, with a track record of mentoring and developing finance professionals.
  • A practical understanding of modern finance systems and how to leverage them for improved accuracy and efficiency.
  • Confidence in driving change, challenging the status quo, and introducing new ways of working.
  • A sharp eye for detail and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.

What’s In It For You?

  • £90,000 - £105,000 base salary, depending on experience.
  • A comprehensive benefits package.
  • Hybrid working model - just one day a week required onsite in Exeter.
  • A chance to join a well-regarded, forward-thinking business at a time of genuine growth and transformation.

If you're looking to move into a pivotal role within a high-growth organisation and want to lead from the front in shaping the finance function of the future - we’d love to hear from you.
