A great opportunity for a qualified accountant. The Project Accountant will assist with the business planning process, including carrying out relevant scenario and mitigating action testing. They will also be responsible for assisting with annual rent setting and rent compliance, reconciliations of group stock holdings and regulatory returns, and ensuring compliance with corporate tax and pensions legislation.

Description

The key responsibilities in this role:

  • Assist with all areas of the annual business plan, including constructing the plan and preparation of the annual Financial Forecast Return.
  • Support the relationship with credit rating agencies.
  • Support the annual rent and service charge amendment process to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the design and implement processes to calculate rents in compliance with the above, and monitor adherence to such processes.
  • Lead on the preparation of the annual rent budget, monthly forecasting and variance analysis as required.
  • Support the completion of the annual Statistical Data Return, ensuring full understanding of the data before submission so that Regulator queries can be dealt with promptly.
  • Support compliance with corporate tax and pensions legislation, regulation and reporting.
  • Support the compilation of the monthly property reconciliation for use across the business and within Regulatory returns.
  • Undertake specific task and finish departmental projects as required.
  • Participate in corporate projects/teams as directed by line management.
  • Ensure colleagues are aware of the risks they are responsible for, the controls to be operated to manage those risks and the ongoing identification, and assessment and management of all risks.
  • Maintain appropriate mechanisms for checking compliance.
  • Ensure that all agreed personal objectives and performance standards are achieved.
  • Adhere to risk management, financial controls, and reporting arrangements within the team.
  • Promote customer service and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with the SLT to ensure that the objectives of the team are met.

Profile

The successful candidate for this role will possess:

  • Excellent customer focus and ability to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Proficient IT skills including knowledge of MS office suite, Power BI and finance/housing management systems.
  • Knowledge of financial accounting, standards and legal requirements.
  • Knowledge of management accounting techniques.
  • Ability to understand, plan and control projects within strict time constraint.
  • Extensive knowledge of variance investigation and reporting.
  • Extensive experience of delivering a financial service to a diverse range of users.
  • Experience developing and improving financial reporting systems in conjunction with service users.
  • Extensive experience of using MS Excel in a business environment.
  • Ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial people both in verbal and written form.

Job Offer

There is a highly competitive salary of £55,000-£60,000 on offer (depending on experience). This role will be hybrid working in Exeter and 1-2 days will be required on-site
