Tax Senior / Manager - Personal Tax

Hybrid: 2 - 3 days on site
Based in Exeter or Torquay office

Overview

You'll work as part of a friendly, collaborative tax team, managing a portfolio of personal tax clients that includes high-net-worth individuals and trusts. The position covers both compliance and advisory work, giving you the chance to use your expertise to deliver practical solutions while developing strong, long-term client relationships.

You will be supported in your career through ongoing training, exposure to interesting work, and the backing of experienced colleagues.

The Role
On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Manage a portfolio of personal tax cases, including trusts and HNW individuals
  • Prepare detailed reports and letters, offering advice on inheritance tax planning, residence, and domicile issues
  • Provide CGT advice on property, shares, and other assets for both UK and non-UK residents
  • Meet with clients to discuss and tailor their tax planning strategies
  • Review the work of junior team members and support their professional development
  • Prepare and review self-assessment tax returns and computations
  • Identify opportunities to introduce clients to other in-house services, such as financial planning
  • Request and maintain client information, and handle queries with confidence
  • Liaise directly with clients, HMRC, solicitors, and other professionals to ensure excellent service delivery

About You

  • Experience in tax compliance and advisory work, with strong report-writing skills
  • Part or fully ATT or CTA qualified (or equivalent) and up-to-date technical knowledge
  • An understanding of relevant compliance regulations and standards
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines
  • A professional, discreet approach and the ability to build strong client relationships
