A client of Bennett & Game Recruitment seeks an experienced Geotechnical / Geo-environmental Engineer to join its South-West hub in Exeter. The role combines hands-on site investigation with office-based design, analysis and client liaison across a broad mix of infrastructure, residential and commercial projects in Devon, Cornwall and neighbouring counties. The successful candidate will work from their office in Exeter, benefiting from rural surroundings, on-site parking and the support of the multidisciplinary team behind an International Project of the Year finalist at the 2025 Ground Engineering Awards.



Geotechnical Engineer Job Overview

  • Lead and supervise site investigations across Devon, Cornwall and neighbouring counties, ensuring safe delivery and high-quality data across a range of project types.
  • Carry out geotechnical analysis, geo-environmental assessment, design and interpretation, working to Eurocode 7, BS 5930 and current UK guidance.
  • Produce, review and sign-off technical reports, drawings and factual/interpretive documents for clients, regulators and project teams.
  • Manage H&S documentation (RAMS, CPP, Permit-to-Dig) and champion site safety in line with company policy.
  • Liaise with contractors, local authorities and private clients to build strong relationships and deliver practical, value-led solutions.
  • Assist senior management with tender preparation, resource planning and continuous improvement initiatives for the Exeter office.


Geotechnical Engineer Job Requirements

  • 3 - 10 years demonstrable experience in geotechnical and/or geo-environmental engineering
  • Proven competency in planning, supervising and interpreting ground investigations
  • Strong report-writing skills and familiarity with relevant UK guidance (Eurocode 7, BS 5930, CDM etc.)
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the South-West (fleet vehicles provided)
  • Ability to mentor junior staff and maintain constructive client relationships, for the more senior role.
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK
