The Role: Legal Cashier
As a Legal Cashier, you will play a vital role within the Finance team by delivering efficient and effective cashiering support. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Drawing, recording, and distributing cheques for business transactions
- Managing payments via Telegraphic Transfers, BACS, Faster Payments, and foreign currency transfers
- Monitoring client account transactions in strict compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules
- Understanding VAT rules for billing across various jurisdictions and third-party arrangements
- Calculating and recording interest on client funds
- Ensuring regular financial reconciliations
- Updating the Head Cashier and internal stakeholders on progress
- Delivering high-quality support to internal and external clients
- Responding to queries promptly and professionally
- Supporting lawyers by checking draft bills and contributing to billing accuracy
- Sharing knowledge and supporting team members
- Suggesting and implementing service improvements
- Supporting the achievement of key financial targets and timelines
Who Should Apply?
The ideal candidate will possess:
- 2 + years of experience in Legal Cashiering
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all levels
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and financial data systems
- A solid general education, with GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade C or above
- A commercial, proactive, and professional mindset
- Excellent organisational skills and a methodical approach to workload management
- Flexibility and adaptability in a changing environment
- The ability to work independently while managing a high volume of tasks
- Strong attention to detail
- A desire to learn and grow
- An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and discretion
