Travel:

You don't have to travel with this role BUT if travel is a passion we can facilitate that as we work with clients in Australia, Alaska and Malaysia and plan to add more locations in 2026! 

You can be deployed to design and test equipment for up to 1 month if you wish!

About the role:

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer within the Products division, you will join a team passionate about pushing the boundaries of engineering to develop the next generation of onsite safety & monitoring equipment, which are deployed in extreme environments. 

This role is challenging intellectually as the product and technology is innovative and groundbreaking and therefore you need to be a critical thinker

You will be expected to independently drive design projects, apply sound engineering judgement, and provide technical oversight across development and sustaining activities. This position combines hands-on design with system-level thinking—supporting both new product development, optimisation, and iteration of existing concepts.

You will take a leading role in refining product designs, resolving complex technical challenges, and ensuring design outputs meet the reliability, safety, and manufacturability standards required by the Energy sector. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead full-cycle design: requirements capture, CAD modelling, calculations, tolerance analysis

  • Prototype, assemble, and validate performance

  • Oversee qualification testing for environmental and field compliance

  • Manage BOMs, ECNs, QA records, and specifications in line with QMS

  • Ensure adherence to industry standards and internal processes

  • Drive design improvements based on field feedback and production issues

  • Conduct structured root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions

  • Liaise with electronics, software, production, and sales teams

  • Provide technical input to customer queries, proposals, and tenders

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design reviews

  • Promote a culture of professionalism, flexibility, and high standards

Required skills:

  • A minimum of 8 years’ industry experience post-graduation as this is high tech and complicated technology 

  • A 2:1 or higher BEng/MEng degree in in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive, Aeronautical or Mechatronics Engineering. 

  • Fluency with 3D CAD tools (preferably Autodesk Inventor).

  • Engineering calculations including pressure containment, mechanical strength, and thermal performance

  • A proactive attitude with the ability to self-manage and lead without needing instruction

  • Experience managing technical documenta on and change control in a PLM system.

Desired skills:

  •        Familiarity with design for manufacture (DfM) and design for assembly (DfA).

  •         Exposure to oilfield tool design, high-pressure environments, material selection for harsh environments

  •         FEA, material selection on for harsh environments

  •         Hands-on prototyping or workshop experience

  •         Anyone from an automotive, energy, or Defence sector but not essential at all
