We are seeking an Accounts Manager to join our client's team in Exeter. This senior position is ideal for someone who is technically strong and passionate about client service. You will lead on delivering accounting and advisory services to your own portfolio of clients, ensuring compliance and high-quality outputs, primarily for SMEs, partnerships, and sole traders.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Client Portfolio Management: Be the go-to person for a variety of SMEs, partnerships, and sole traders. Build and nurture long-term relationships based on trust and outstanding service.
  • Financial Reporting & Compliance: Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns, and management reports. Ensure everything is accurate and compliant with UK standards.
  • Strategic Advisory: Offer tailored financial insights to help clients grow. Advise on tax planning, cash flow management, and business strategies.
  • Client Relationship Management: Serve as a trusted adviser, addressing client queries and proactively meeting their needs. Lead client meetings and present insightful reports.
  • Team Leadership & Mentoring: Guide and mentor junior accountants. Review their work, provide training, and support their professional growth.
  • Quality Control & Compliance: Ensure all work meets UK GAAP/IFRS standards. Stay updated on the latest accounting and tax regulations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Work with senior management to enhance processes and elevate the client experience.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified: ACA or ACCA qualified with full membership status.
  • Experienced: Proven track record managing diverse client portfolios and leading teams.
  • Technically Skilled: Strong knowledge of UK GAAP/IFRS and tax compliance. Proficient in Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage.
  • Leader: Excellent at managing and mentoring teams. Skilled in delegation and providing constructive feedback.
  • Communicator: Exceptional at explaining complex financial information and building client relationships.
  • Analytical & Organised: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Proactive in managing deadlines and priorities.
  • Business Savvy: Commercially aware with the ability to add value for clients and improve services.
