Finance Manager (Part-time) - Southeast Devon - Salary negotiable/daily rate to be negotiated

My client, an FMCG business based in South East Devon that wholesales to major high-street chains and major online retailers, as well as online retail sales is looking to hire a Part-time Finance Manager for 1-2 days a week. You will be managing all matters financial, with the existing resource and assistance from some of our operational and administration staff. Responsible for assessing the current inhouse finance function and decide if it's fit for purpose. You will work with the business owner and operational staff to ensure proper efficient and streamlined internal financial processes and controls are in place.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee the following:
    • all basic bookkeeping and financial record keeping, with assistance.
    • Timely delivery of a complete monthly management accounting service and reporting pack.
    • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
    • Completion and submission of VAT, PAYE/NIC and ONS returns
    • Bank reconciliations, weekly cash reporting and cash forecasting
  • Ad hoc projects to assist the MD
  • Work with operations team to introduce sales channel based financial reporting to evaluate the profitability of sales channels and improve the overall operating margins of the business.
  • Liaison with auditor and tax advisors to ensure completion of annual statutory accounts and tax computations.

Key skills:

  • At least 3 years' experience with a demonstrable track record of achievement.
  • You may be a qualified accountant, or you may hold the AAT qualification or equivalent or you may be studying for the latter stages of your ACCA or CIMA qualifications.
  • You may be someone who has had a career break and is looking to return to work, but not on a full-time basis
  • Experience of Sage 20o accounts would be a big advantage, as would experience of the world of FMCG, though not entirely essential.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively to deadlines.
  • First class organisational and analytical skills and be confident in communicating financial information.
  • An eagerness to grow with the business and the finance function.
  • Good management and leadership skills and be a committed team player.
  • Proficient Excel skills.
