A local authority in Exeter is looking for an experienced Housing Options Caseworker to join their Housing Solutions team on a 2-month contract. This vital role focuses on preventing and relieving homelessness through direct advice, intervention, and case management.
You will provide person-centred housing advice, develop prevention plans, and manage homelessness applications in accordance with statutory duties. The successful candidate will work closely with a range of stakeholders, including landlords, support agencies, and internal departments.

Key Responsibilities:
路Deliver tailored housing advice to residents threatened with homelessness
路Develop and implement personalised housing action plans
路Manage a busy caseload, conducting full homelessness assessments
路Make decisions in line with statutory guidance and issue s.184 notifications
路Engage with landlords, legal services, and health/social care professionals
路Assist in securing accommodation via private rental, supported housing or social housing routes
路Apply discretionary funding as needed to support prevention and relief outcomes


Essential Requirements:
路Minimum of 1 year's experience in a similar public-facing role, supporting homeless or vulnerable clients
路In-depth working knowledge of:
聽 聽 聽Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
聽 聽 聽The Localism Act 2011
聽 聽 聽Housing Act 1996 Part VII (as amended by the Homelessness Act 2002)
路Strong communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills
路Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload in a fast-paced environment
路Competency in maintaining clear and accurate case records
