We are seeking an experienced and strategic National Operators Manager to lead and grow the Operators Division across the UK. This role will drive operational excellence, support national growth into new territories and major projects, and ensure the provision of high-quality operators while maximising revenue and protecting margin. You will work closely with the commercial team to optimise service delivery and operational processes, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.
Job Overview
Operational Leadership & Management
- Direct, coordinate, plan, and oversee tasks and operations within the Operators Division.
- Provide out-of-hours support for escalated operational issues or queries.
- Implement effective processes, practices, and continuous improvements across the function.
- Manage operator systems, assessments, and training to ensure compliance and appropriate skill levels.
- Ensure smooth collaboration between Operators, commercial teams, and other departments.
- Carry out departmental cover as required for absences, payroll, or other critical functions.
Strategic Growth & Planning
- Deliver national growth and revenue targets for the Operators Division.
- Develop budgets, strategic business plans, and initiatives to optimise operator management and recruitment.
- Monitor KPIs and performance metrics to maintain high-quality service standards.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Promote and maintain compliance with all legal, statutory, and professional regulations.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety practices and industry regulations.
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage, motivate, and support the national operator team.
- Conduct reviews, appraisals, and provide guidance to ensure high performance and professional development.
Job Requirements
Essential:
- Significant operational experience within the plant hire industry.
- Previous management experience in a similar role with proven leadership skills.
- Strong knowledge of industry regulations, H&S practice, and legal requirements.
- Experience in developing budgets, business plans, and strategic initiatives.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and IT skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure.
- Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.
Desirable:
- Experience in national or multi-site operations management.
- Proven track record in process improvement and efficiency initiatives.
- Ability to foster a positive team culture and support employee development.
