Harrys is one of Devons most iconic independent restaurants. Family-run for over three decades, weve built a reputation for exceptional food, relaxed sophistication, and genuine hospitality.
Set within a striking Gothic-style building on Longbrook Street, Harrys is a place where locals and visitors alike gather to enjoy beautifully prepared dishes, attentive service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. As we look ahead to the next chapter of our story, were seeking an experienced and hands-on Restaurant Manager to lead our front-of-house operations and continue our tradition of excellence.
This position is ideally suited to an ambitious manager or senior operator who thrives in a fast-paced, service-driven environment. Its a hands-on, operational role that is focused on people, guest experience, and day-to-day leadership rather than office administration.
While Harrys is a lively and dynamic restaurant, service here is never rushed. The role is centred on hosting, presence, and building genuine connections. Many of our guests have dined with us for years, and taking the time to know them - their preferences, occasions, and even their favourite table - is at the heart of what we do. Whether its a first visit or a familiar face returning for the tenth year, creating those personal touches and lasting relationships is what makes Harrys special.
You will:
Lead and motivate a well-established front-of-house team, ensuring consistent, high-quality service.
Oversee daily operations, including service standards, table management, and team development.
Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure seamless coordination and an exceptional guest experience.
Drive performance, uphold Harrys brand standards, and foster a culture of pride and professionalism.
Support the owner in the continued development and success of the restaurant.
Please note that financial and administrative responsibilities such as payroll, systems, and recruitment are handled by the owner, allowing this role to focus fully on operational excellence and service leadership.
