About the role
The QHSE Specialist will work closely with the QHSE Manager to ensure compliance and continuous improvement across quality, health and safety, and environmental systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting quality management systems, documentation, and internal audits.
- Assisting with investigations into incidents, near misses, complaints, and non-conformance.
- Contributing to health and safety programmes, surveillance, and contractor compliance.
- Maintaining environmental records, specifications, and learning management systems.
- Supporting QC activities, including lab operations and liaison with QC staff.
- Engaging with employees, auditors, suppliers, and clients to maintain high standards.

Requirements
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent qualification.
- 2–3 years’ experience in quality, health and safety within fine chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, and internal auditing.
- Strong IT skills with Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Understanding of investigating client complaints, incidents, and non-conformance.
- Awareness of working safely with hazardous chemicals and materials.

Preferred:
- NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent.
- 3–5 years’ experience in QA, QC, and H&S in chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Experience with ISO 14001:2015 and root cause/corrective actions (RCCA).
- Knowledge of COSHH, COMAH, DSEAR, and risk assessments (COSHH, HAZOP).
