Procurement Lead – Asset Creation (North East & Scotland)
Flexible UK location | Senior Leadership Role | £200m+ Annual Procurement Responsibility

Are you an experienced procurement professional ready to lead at a strategic level across major infrastructure projects in the water and environmental sectors? We’re looking for a forward-thinking Procurement Lead to join a nationally recognised infrastructure contractor delivering essential works across the UK.

About the Opportunity

With a secured pipeline of work extending well into the 2030s, this organisation is expanding its Procurement & Supply Chain function to support continued growth. You’ll lead procurement activities across several business units in the North East and Scotland, guiding a growing team of procurement professionals (approx. 20 initially) and managing procurement responsibilities across £200m–£250m worth of infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects annually.

This is a high-impact leadership role offering true autonomy to shape procurement strategy and elevate supply chain performance across regulated, framework-led programmes—primarily in the water sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic procurement leadership across regional business units and major frameworks.
  • Collaborate with commercial, design, delivery, estimating, and planning teams to maximise procurement impact.
  • Drive innovation in procurement processes including subcontracting models, early engagement, and long-term supply chain partnerships.
  • Implement procurement transformation strategies, including digital procurement platforms and performance reporting.
  • Develop a high-performing procurement team, embedding collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Represent procurement at senior leadership level internally and externally with key client contacts.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong background in infrastructure procurement, ideally in water, civils, utilities, or power.
  • Demonstrated experience leading procurement teams within large, complex frameworks or regulated environments.
  • Skilled communicator and relationship-builder with the confidence to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with a passion for innovation and positive change.
  • Sound working knowledge of NEC or IChemE contracts.
  • Experience with digital procurement and reporting tools—Orbit experience is desirable.
  • MCIPS qualification or a willingness to pursue it.

Location & Flexibility

This role offers flexible working from several UK office locations, with regular travel expected across the Midlands to Northern UK region to attend project sites and collaborate with supply chain partners.
