Position: Quality Inspector - CNC
Location: Southampton / Swanwick
Salary: Up to 33,000
A successful and long-established design and manufacturing business supplying technically challenging and innovative solutions to leading OEM engine builders is seeking to recruit an Inspection Engineer to join their Hampshire-based team.
This is a varied and responsible role, offering the opportunity to work across CNC-manufactured components, subcontracted parts, and precision fuel system equipment. The position requires strong engineering and IT skills, excellent attention to detail, and previous experience in component inspection and reporting.
Job Overview
- First article inspection of fittings produced within the CNC section
- Inspection of externally manufactured subcontract components
- Final inspection of fuel injection pipework and associated equipment
- Generation of process plans and inspection documentation
- Calibration and control of measuring equipment
- Supporting production with proactive communication and inspection guidance
- Ensuring inspection activities align with quality standards and production schedules
- Maintain and update work instructions relating to inspection and quality
- Produce new quality and inspection documentation where required
- Support the Quality Engineer with calibration systems for tools, jigs, and gauges
- Produce and update COSHH and risk assessments
- Support preparation of health and safety notes for monthly meetings
- Investigate production and quality issues and implement improvements
- Take ownership of testing plans in line with Quality and Production requirements
- Proactively identify and resolve quality or process concerns
- CMM measurement and pipe-shape correction support
- Testing of prototype fittings to defined specifications
- Technical support to production and engineering teams
Requirements
- Ability to read and understand technical engineering drawings
- Experience inspecting and recording metal engineered components
- Working knowledge of hand measuring equipment (Vernier, Micrometer, etc.)
- ERP system proficiency
- Ability to work to, and create, process and inspection guides
- Strong communication skills with a proactive approach to workflow improvement
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK
- CNC / Calibration knowledge
