StratospherecareproudtobeworkingwithafantasticUKSaaSFintechcompanywhoseITsystemsarerevolutionisingtheUKfinance,retailandcommerceindustries.DuetotheirsustainedandcontinuedgrowththeyarelookingtoexpandtheirITInfrastructureteambyhiringanInfrastructureEngineerwithastrongWintelandITInfrastructurebackground.

TheyhaveanumberoflargeITprojectsforthenext24monthsincludingautomatingtheirITInfrastructuredeploymentssotheyarelookingforanexperiencedITEngineerwhohasaninterestinautomationaswell-nopreviousautomationexperiencenecessary.ThisrolewillmainlyfocusedtoinnewITprojectwork,withsomelimitedBAUworkaswell.

TheyarelookingforanInfrastructureEngineerwithaninterestinusingautomationtoolstostreamlineinfrastructuredeployment,managementandmonitoring,combinedwithabackgroundinadministeringandbuildingnewITinfrastructuresandimprovementsinITsystemsfrompreviousprojectsisgoingtobevitalforthisrole.AnybackgroundinDatacentrerelocationormigrationwouldbeusefulaswellinthisrole

RoleResponsibilities:

Infrastructure:

  • MaintainandenhanceITinfrastructure,includingVMwareESXi,MicrosoftWindowsServerenvironments,andNetworkMonitoringandnetworkingcomponents.ThereissomeminimalworksupportingAWS/Linuxserverinfrastructureaswell.
  • Ensuresystemreliability,scalability,andperformancethroughproactivemonitoringandautomation.
  • Maintainandimprovelocalnetworkenvironments,includingDellserversandDellswitchconfigurations.
  • StrongtechnicalexpertiseinMicrosoftActiveDirectory(AD),WindowsServerenvironments,andauthenticationsolutions.
  • Planforscalability,redundancy,andhighavailabilitytosupportfuturegrowth.

ITSecurity&Compliance:

  • Ensurecompliancewithsecurityandregulatorystandards,includingPCIDSS,CyberEssentials+,DORA,andISO27001.
  • Implementandenforcesecuritybestpracticesacrossinfrastructureautomationandcloudenvironments.
  • Maintainaccuratecompliancedocumentation,includingPCIDSSscoperecordsandsecuritypolicies.
  • Securehigh-valueandhigh-riskdata,suchascardholder(PCI)andpersonallyidentifiableinformation(PII).

Cloud&Automation(thesetoolsandskillswillbetaught):

  • ImplementandmanageInfrastructureasCode(IaC)forcloudandon-premisesenvironments.
  • Learnhowtoautomateconfigurationmanagement,infrastructureprovisioning,andapplicationdeployment.
  • Configureandmaintainauthenticationsolutions(SSO,SAML,EntraConnect).
  • Developandmanageautomationsolutionstostreamlineinfrastructuredeployment,management,andmonitoring.
  • ImplementandoptimizeautomationtoolssuchasAzureDevOps(orotherCI/CDpipelines),Terraform,Node-Red,andPacker.
  • Deployandmanagemonitoringtools(Zabbix,SolarWindsSentryOne,andothernetwork/databasemonitoringsolutions).
  • EnsuresecurecloudinfrastructuremanagementacrossAzureandAWSenvironments.

Experience&Skills:

Itwillbeusefultohavesomeofthefollowingskillsandexperience:

  • Strongexpertiseindefining,delivering,andsupportingrobust,resilient,andsecureenterpriseinfrastructure.
  • ExperiencewithITauditsandcomplianceframeworkssuchasCIS,PCIDSS,CyberEssentials,NIST,ISO27001.
  • Anunderstandingofnetworksecurityandcomplianceinregulatedenvironments.
  • Strongnetworkingknowledge(LAN,WAN,DNS,DHCP,VPN,TCP/IP).
  • Proficiencyinfirewallandloadbalancertechnologiesforsecureenvironments.
  • Hands-onexperiencewithvirtualizationplatforms(VMware,CitrixXen)andbackupsolutions(Veeamorsimilar).
  • Experiencewithmonitoringtools(SolarWindsSentryOne,Zabbixetc.).
  • Excellentproblem-solving,communication,anddocumentationskills.
  • Somefamiliaritywithfinancialservicesregulationsandcompliance(PCIDSS,GDPR,DORA)wouldbeusefulbutisnotessential.

Desirable(butnotrequired)experience:

  • SomeinterestinlearningandusingautomationtoolssuchasAzureDevOps,Terraform,Node-Red,Packer.
  • Provenabilitytosecurehigh-valuedata(PCIcardholderdata,PII)andimplementsecuritybestpractices.
  • Scriptingandautomationskills(PowerShell,Python,Bash,orsimilar).
  • Abilitytodesign,implement,andmaintainCI/CDpipelinesforinfrastructureautomation.
  • Someexperiencemanagingcloudenvironments(Azure,AWS).
